Facebook has reached an agreement with Eutelsat, which will enter into force in the end of 2016, according to which Africa will next year get free satellite Internet through Facebook Internet.org initiative.
Although Facebook had plans to build its own satellite through which the remote and less developed parts of the world would be provided with free Internet access, this plan still requires more time, and that is because the same thing will be done through already existing satellite.
Eutelsat claims that the satellite even the most remote areas of Africa will provide direct access to the Internet connection and it will be performed through “off the shelf” equipment.
